Britons trapped by the deadly fighting in Sudan have accused the UK Government of ‘abandoning’ them after they rescued diplomats and their families – while other nations managed to evacuate civilians.

Around 4,000 British civilians remain trapped in Sudan and scores have spoken of their anger at being left behind, with many saying they have received no help – other than being told to ‘stay inside’.
