The BSE Sensex touched a high of 53,378, and was up 250 points around 53,400 level. The NSE Nifty50 quoted below 15,900-level.

Financials and auto shares were seen outperforming, while among individual index sotcks – Hindustan Unilever and Asian Paints also logged smart gains. Power products – NTPC and PowerGrid along with Tata Steel were the major losers on Wednesday so far.
