MARKET LIVE: Sensex at 4-month high, atop 59K; Nifty50 above 16,650 levels

Better-than-estimated US inflation data at 8.5 per cent in July coupled with strong global sentiments fuelled bulls in Thursday’s trade on the BSE. Frontline indices Nifty50 rose over 150 points to trade above 17,700 levels and the S&P BSE Sensex climbed over 600 points at 59,457 levels.
 

Broader markets, too, reflected strength as Nifty Midcap 100 and Nifty Smallcap 100 surged up to 0.9 per cent.
