Council deputy leader steps down after stalking and harassment arrest

Labour Cllr Tamoor Tariq, deputy leader and cabinet member for health and wellbeing, who represents Redvales, is no longer serving in the cabinet for “personal reasons”.

Labour also confirmed he has also had the whip withdrawn pending a further investigation.

A party spokesperson said: “Cllr Tamoor Tariq has stepped back from Bury cabinet with immediate effect for personal reasons.”
