Chaos in Chad as security forces violently put down protests

Chad has been plunged into chaos after police in the capital N’Djamena violently dispersed protests calling for a quicker transition to democratic rule, as demonstrators were accused of looting and setting fire to the newly-appointed prime minister’s party offices.
