An F-35 jet pilot has spoken of the shocking moment he escaped from his plane moments before it plunged into the sea after failing to launch off a Royal Navy aircraft carrier.
The pilot, known only as Hux, was seated in the cockpit of the £120million Lightning II when it malfunctioned on the runway of the the UK’s flagship HMS Queen Elizabeth.
Mobile phone footage captured the moment the aircraft sped towards the ship’s ‘ski-jump’ ramp in November 2021.
